- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare an 8×8-inch square baking dish by greasing it lightly.
- Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Cream the softened butter until creamy and light.
- Combine the flour mixture with the creamed butter until just combined.
- Reserve about 1 cup of the crumb mixture for topping and press the rest into the bottom of the baking dish.
- Make the filling by mixing blackberries with lemon juice and vanilla, and pour it over the crust.
- Add the reserved crumb mixture over the blackberries.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

For added flavor, consider dusting with powdered sugar or serving warm with vanilla ice cream.
