Ingredients

  • 1 cup toasted almonds
  • 1 cup mixed dried fruits (such as figs, apricots, and raisins)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Toast the almonds by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spreading the almonds on a baking sheet for about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Chop the dried fruits into small, bite-sized pieces.
  3. Mix the toasted almonds, chopped dried fruits, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange zest in a large bowl.
  4. Combine the ingredients thoroughly until sticky enough to hold together.
  5. Roll about a tablespoon of the mixture into balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter.
  6. Sugar coat each ball by rolling in sugar until evenly coated.
  7. Chill the sugar plums on a parchment-lined tray in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
