- 1 tbsp Water
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 4 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
- 2 tbsp Butter (softened)
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Zest of Lemon
- 2 tbsp Whole Milk
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1/4 teaspoon of sugar. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and gradually stir in 4 cups of flour until a pliable dough forms.
- Knead and Rise: Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth, then let it rise in a greased bowl for about an hour.
- Prepare the Strawberry Filling: In a separate bowl, combine sliced strawberries, 1/3 cup sugar, lemon juice, water, and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Roll It Out: Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle, and spread the strawberry filling over it.
- Roll and Slice: Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice into 12 pieces, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake to Golden Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Frost and Serve: Make cream cheese frosting by beating together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and whole milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.
