Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast

  • 1 large Egg Yolk
  • 1 cup Warm Water (110°F)
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of warm water (110°F) and 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast with the granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Once your yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the dry ingredients along with 4 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter and 1 large egg yolk. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead: Dust your counter with flour and turn out the dough. Knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place in a bowl coated with cooking spray, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll into a rectangle about ½ inch thick and divide into strips (about 1 inch wide).
  8. Add the cheese: Brush the top of the dough strips with melted butter and sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Second rise: Let the cheese-topped strips rise for about 15–20 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle with garlic salt before baking.
  11. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and bubbling with cheese.
  12. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve with marinara sauce.
