Description

Delicious and fun sugar cookie bars perfect for festive celebrations, topped with a luscious glaze and vibrant sprinkles.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp softened butter (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Patriotic sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix well.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients in another bowl and gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Spread the thick dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Make the frosting by beating softened butter and powdered sugar; gradually add heavy cream and vanilla to desired consistency.
  9. Frost and top with patriotic sprinkles once the bars are cool.
  10. Slice into squares or rectangles and serve!
