- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or shaved steak)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 1 green bell pepper (diced)
- 1 red bell pepper (diced)
- 8 oz (225 g) white mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (120 ml) beef broth
- 1 cup (115 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup (115 g) shredded provolone cheese
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté the diced onions, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper in olive oil for about 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic, and sauté for another 3-4 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef while seasoning with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce for about 5-6 minutes.
- Mix in softened cream cheese and then gradually add beef broth, stirring until creamy.
- Layer the mixture in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and provolone cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Feel free to swap ingredients to suit dietary needs or preferences. This dish can also be made ahead of time and baked later.
