Description

A comforting casserole that captures all the flavors of a classic cheesesteak, perfect for family dinners or game days.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz (225 g) white mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (120 ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded provolone cheese
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the diced onions, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper in olive oil for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic, sauté for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Brown the ground beef, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Mix in the softened cream cheese and beef broth, stirring until creamy.
  6. Layer the mixture in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and provolone cheese.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time; just add extra baking time if baking from the fridge.
