Description

A quick and flavorful Ground Beef and Broccoli dish that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
  • Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and chop the onion, mince the garlic, and cut the broccoli if you’re using fresh.
  2. Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat the tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté the Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté for about 2-3 minutes. Then toss in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  4. Brown the Beef: Crank up the heat to high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add the Broccoli: Toss in your broccoli florets, and stir. Cook fresh broccoli for about 3-4 minutes or until bright green.
  6. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth.
  7. Combine Everything: Pour the sauce into the skillet, tossing everything together. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve it Up!: Serve the beef and broccoli over cooked rice or quinoa, garnishing with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
