Description

A comforting side dish featuring fluffy long-grain rice with the richness of butter and the sweetness of caramelized onions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by washing the rice under cold water until clear and slicing the onion thinly.
  2. Sauté the onions in a medium-sized pot with melted butter over medium heat, seasoning with a pinch of salt until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the pot, stirring to coat the grains in the butter.
  4. Pour in the broth and stir to combine, adding salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low, covering the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice has absorbed all the liquid.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork after letting it sit covered for 5 minutes, and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with herbs, citrus, cheese, or even spices for a personal touch.
