- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and remaining granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples gently until evenly distributed.
- Prepare the crumble topping by mixing flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon, and working in some softened butter until crumbly.
- Assemble the cake, pouring the batter into the prepared dish and sprinkling the crumble topping on top.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake for 15-20 minutes, then prepare the glaze and drizzle it over the cooled cake.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This cake can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
