Description
A flavor-packed side dish featuring sautéed green beans with bacon, garlic, and brown sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup butter (melted)
- 5 cans cut green beans (drained)
- 1 ½ tsp garlic (minced)
- 8 slices of bacon (cooked and chopped)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- ⅔ cup light brown sugar
Instructions
- Prep your beans. If you’re using canned green beans, open the cans and drain the liquid. If you’re using fresh beans, rinse, trim the ends, and blanch them in salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp. Shock them in an ice bath to stop the cooking. Set aside.
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy (about 6-8 minutes). Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate; reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
- Sauté the garlic in the reserved bacon grease for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the drained green beans and sauté for about 5 minutes.
- Create the flavor sauce by whisking together melted butter, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Pour over green beans and toss.
- Chop the cooked bacon and sprinkle it over the green beans. Toss again.
- Let the green beans cook in the sauce for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Notes
Can substitute olive oil for butter and use turkey bacon for a healthier option.
