- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: Heat milk until warm, remove from heat, add sugar and yeast. Let sit until frothy.
- Make the dough: Whisk flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough: Transfer to a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic (5-7 minutes).
- Let it rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough: Punch down, roll into a rectangle (12×9 inches).
- Prepare the filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, spread over dough, and add chopped strawberries.
- Roll them up: Start from one edge and roll tightly, sealing the seams.
- Cut into rolls: Slice into 12 pieces, place in a greased baking dish.
- Second rise: Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Make the icing: Whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Ice and serve: Drizzle icing over rolls after cooling slightly.
Notes
Best served warm. Pairs well with coffee or milk. Add a pat of butter for extra indulgence.
