Description
A delightful homemade vanilla buttercream cake layered with fresh strawberries and drizzled with chocolate ganache.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for buttercream)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
- 4 oz chocolate (for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, alternating with the milk.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare buttercream by beating together softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Layer with buttercream and fresh strawberries, then frost the entire cake.
- Drizzle chocolate ganache over the frosted cake if desired.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, substitute with a gluten-free baking mix. To make it vegan, replace eggs with flax eggs, and use plant-based milk and butter.
