- 8 oz pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Brown the ground beef in the pot for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up, until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- Incorporate the diced tomatoes (with juices) and beef broth. Stir in the Italian seasoning.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about a cup of pasta water.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and stir, adding reserved pasta water for desired consistency.
