Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  2. Brown the ground beef in the pot for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up, until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. Incorporate the diced tomatoes (with juices) and beef broth. Stir in the Italian seasoning.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about a cup of pasta water.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and stir, adding reserved pasta water for desired consistency.
