- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1/2 cup apple butter
- 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Beat the butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the apple butter at low speed until fully incorporated.
- Incorporate the sifted powdered sugar gradually, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed and then on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and optional ground cinnamon, mixing until blended.
- Adjust the consistency by adding milk or heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired texture is achieved.
- Taste test and adjust sweetness or seasoning if necessary.
- Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes before using.
Notes
This icing can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Just re-whip before using.
