- 1 14–16 oz block extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1–2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 ½ tablespoon sweet Thai chili sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoon Sriracha
- ½ teaspoon rice vinegar
- Optional for serving: Cooked jasmine or white rice, shredded purple cabbage, julienned carrots, sliced cucumber, avocado, edamame
Instructions
- Press the Tofu: Start by wrapping your block of extra-firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Place something heavy on top—like a cast-iron skillet or a few cans—allowing it to press for about 20-30 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet Thai chili sauce, Sriracha, and rice vinegar. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Cube and Season: After pressing, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Toss with soy sauce, olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Cook the Tofu: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or pan-fry in oil over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Toss with Sauce: Once crispy, drizzle the sauce over the tofu and gently toss to coat.
- Serve It Up: Plate over jasmine rice and garnish with optional toppings like shredded cabbage, carrot ribbons, cucumber slices, creamy avocado, and edamame.
Notes
For variations, add peanut butter to the sauce for a nutty twist or citrus juice for brightness. This dish is great for meal prep!
