- 1 lb short pasta (like elbow macaroni or shells)
- 1 lb lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
- 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 15 oz canned diced tomatoes (undrained)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the short pasta until al dente, then drain.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté the diced onion in with the beef until translucent, then add minced garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the canned diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Combine the cooked pasta and 2 cups of cheese with the beef mixture.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese and drizzle with whole milk.
- Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
