Description

A delicious Southern peach cobbler with tender, sweet peaches and a crispy buttery topping, perfect for gatherings or afternoon treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the fresh peaches and toss with 1/2 cup of sugar, letting them sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish in the oven.
  4. Make the batter by whisking flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk in a bowl until smooth.
  5. Combine the batter over the melted butter without mixing it in.
  6. Add the peach mixture over the batter, allowing the juices to flow.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving warm, ideally with ice cream.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or caramel drizzles for an elegant touch. Experiment with substitutions for different flavors.
