Description

Ingredients

  • 1 Perfect Pie Crust Recipe
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 8 cups thinly sliced apples (peeled and cored)
  • 2/3 cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • Coarse sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by rolling it out and fitting it into a 9-inch pie pan.
  3. Sauté the sliced apples with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, lemon juice, and salt for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour the sautéed apples into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Whisk together the egg and water, and brush over the crust.
  6. Create the top crust or lattice with additional pie crust.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes
