- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar or Gruyere)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grab a baking dish and generously grease it with butter.
- Using either a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, thinly slice your potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick.
- In a small pan, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- Add your chopped onions and sauté for about 5 minutes.
- Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Start layering! In your greased baking dish, arrange a layer of potato slices at the bottom.
- In a bowl, mix your heavy cream with the paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and pop it into the preheated oven for about 45 minutes.
- Once out of the oven, let your scalloped potatoes cool for about 10-15 minutes.
