Description

These No-Bake Bird Nest Haystack Cookies are the ultimate easy spring treat! Crunchy chow mein noodles are coated in a rich chocolate-butterscotch mixture and shaped into adorable little nests, each filled with candy eggs. They’re fun, festive, and perfect for Easter celebrations, classroom parties, or a simple afternoon kitchen activity with kids. Ready in minutes and guaranteed to bring smiles — this is sweet spring magic made easy!

Ingredients

Scale

6 oz butterscotch chips

6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate)

6 oz chow mein noodles

1 cup candy-coated chocolate Easter eggs

Instructions

In a large microwave-safe glass bowl, combine butterscotch chips and chocolate chips.

Microwave for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth.

Add chow mein noodles and gently fold until fully coated.

Line your counter with wax paper.

Spoon a mound of the chocolate-coated noodles onto the wax paper.

Use the back of a spoon to press the center down slightly to form a nest shape. Don’t worry about perfection — those messy strands make it look realistic!

While chocolate is still soft, place 2–3 candy eggs into the center.

Repeat with remaining mixture.

Let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, or until fully set.
