A guilt-free take on classic churros, these Healthy Baked Churro Bites are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, all coated in delicious cinnamon sugar.

- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
- 1/4 cup Coconut Oil, melted
- 1/3 cup Coconut Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 cup Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy)
- 1/4 cup Coconut Sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine unsweetened applesauce, melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, vanilla extract, and milk.
- Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Shape the dough into 24 small balls and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Whisk together coconut sugar and cinnamon for coating and roll the warm bites in the mixture.
- Cool briefly on a wire rack and serve warm.
Notes
These churro bites can be frozen and reheated in the oven for a freshly baked taste.
