Description

Homemade gifts never go out of style—especially when they smell like the holidays. This Gingerbread Cookie Mix in a Jar is a thoughtful, ready-to-bake treat with layers of rich brown sugar and warm spices. Double the recipe for two jars or one large batch, and add a few festive extras for a gift that feels as sweet as it tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

7 cups all-purpose flour, divided

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp baking powder

4 tsp ground ginger

2 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp ground allspice

2 cups packed brown sugar

Optional Twists to Add to the Jar:

2 tsp orange zest (dried) for citrusy brightness

½ cup mini white chocolate chips or toffee bits

1 tbsp finely chopped crystallized ginger

Layer in festive sprinkles for a pop of color

Instructions

In a bowl, whisk 6 cups flour with baking soda, baking powder, and all spices.

In each jar, layer: 1 cup spiced flour mix, half the brown sugar, more flour, optional mix-ins, and the rest of the flour. Press each layer firmly for a neat presentation.

Seal tightly. Decorate with fabric under the lid, a ribbon, and attach a cookie cutter if desired.

Attach These Baking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream ¾ cup softened butter with 1 egg and ¾ cup molasses.

Add contents of jar and mix until a soft dough forms.
