Ingredients
1 lb flank steak (455 g), thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp grated ginger
2 tbsp sesame oil
⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce (80 mL)
¼ cup brown sugar (55 g)
¼ cup honey (85 g)
1 cup beef broth (240 mL)
4 cups broccoli florets (700 g)
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
Sear Steak: Heat 1 tbsp sesame oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add steak strips and sear until browned. Set aside.
Make Sauce: In the same pan, add remaining sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook 1 minute. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
Simmer: Return beef to the pan. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Cook Broccoli: Steam or microwave broccoli until just tender, then add to the pan.
Thicken Sauce: Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the pan. Simmer 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot over rice or noodles.
